Most people shy away from personal training for the following reasons. Let's list them first, then talk about them one by one.

If we have missed any, please email us and let us know.

I already know how to workout.

Everyone knows how to workout to some degree, but is it effective?

Does Tiger Woods know how to play golf? Why does he have a coach and a trainer? Get the point? All major sports teams and athletes have dedicated trainers to do the following:

       1. Be an objective observer.
       2. Increase performance.
       3. Decrease injuries.

If you think you are an expert, then you don't need us and frankly we don't need you. But if you need a refresher course in fitness, want to learn how to be more effective, and learn how to exercise properly, this is for you.

I am not an athlete.

No, you are an athlete. Maybe you are not famous but I bet you perform athletic feats all the time. Bending over to pick up the kids, chasing after them, lifting, sitting, walking, working: these all entail fitness.

Have you ever known someone who...

threw out their back shoveling snow?

sprained their back picking something up?

pulled a muscle doing something simple?

became winded walking up a flight of stairs?

The fact is that you need your body to move correctly and safely whether it is during an athletic event or just walking around your house. That is fitness.

It is too hard.

Yes. Our workouts are hard. Our clients end up sweating and probably curse us under their breath but that is part of it. We are teaching your body to fix itself and move properly and lift weight properly. Expect some aches and pains at first but look at it this way: a little pain now will prevent a lot of pain in the future.

We will adjust your workouts so that they are challenging but doable. We will never do anything to injure you and if the workout is too much for you, we will lower the intensity. We all start at different places and we respect that.

After a while working out will become second nature to you and you will laugh about some of the preconceptions you had.

It is too expensive.

In-Home Personal Training is expensive. Our company is not the the most expensive, nor are we the cheapest, just the best. I know 80% of people I talk to can't afford it, that is why we offer affordable options, such as tandem or group training. Also, the more sessions you purchase at once, the lower the price per session becomes. Take a look at our packages page to find more information about these options.

I don't have any equipment or much space.

If you have a body, that is all we need. Fitness On Demand will provide all of the equipment that you will need. Space is also not a problem...Do you have a living room floor or basement?

I don't have time.

We only need 60 minutes of your time 1-3 times a week. Let's be honest, if you can't find that in your schedule you are making excuses.

I am too far out of shape.

As long as your doctor says it is ok, we can fix that. Don't look at working out as an all or nothing proposition. If one person is running an 8 minute mile and another is walking at a 20 minute mile pace, what does that mean? Nothing. What is important is that we are both giving an optimum effort and pushing themselves. Most people can get in really good shape in 12 weeks. If it takes you 20 or 30 weeks, who cares? The idea is that you are doing something good for you!

I have a fear of being injured.

Everyone has a fear of being injured. Most people have a fear of pain and all the other emotions that sometimes go along with that; shame, embarrassment, feeling of inferiority or perhaps anger at the trainer for pushing them too hard.

This is natural and is based on fact. Your body is intuitively very smart. We just forget how to operate it sometimes. Add in a trainer who has no idea what he is doing and that is a recipe for disaster. We see trainers at gyms all the time putting all their clients through the same routine without any regard to their safety.

I am self-conscious.

Everyone is self-conscious to some degree. It is a natural emotion to feel when you are confronted with something new. That fear can prevent you from even trying. If you are out of shape, sometimes you just don't want to have other people looking at you. That is why we train people in their homes where they have privacy. If this is not an option for you, look at our studio and office training options.

I just want to eat better.

Proper nutrition is vital, yet there is so much bad information out there.

I can show you:

  • How to lose fat on a regular basis.
  • Lose weight without ever going hungry.
  • Increase your stamina and energy.
  • Eat better, look better, and feel better without significantly changing what you eat.

I have old injuries and can't train.

Why don't we work on fixing those injuries so you can train? I have found that in most cases, old aches and pains can be eliminated through proper exercise. I can improve your range of motion, strength, and overall quality of life.
